Out and about in Macau

I had set my alarm for 2:30am so I could wake up well and truly in time for the World Cup final ... Wasn't going to miss that one!! And so glad I did. After what looked like it could have gone to a penalty shoot out, it ended nicely with Germany scoring a goal just in time to become the winners of this year's tournament, making history (being the first European team to win on South American soil!). Thrilled I was!!! Glad it's over and I can get back to proper sleep again.

Went back to bed for a brief few hours as Jess and I were heading to Macau for the day. Martin had booked tickets for us to see the amazing show at City of Dreams.

So we had a full day in Macau. Jess was thrilled to be there and enjoyed everything. This pic is of the Ruins of St Paul's church. It's just the facade of the church that's left. Huge tourist hot spot, and oh my was it hot today! Luckily the thunderstorms predicted never happened so we were truly grateful. Had the customary Portuguese egg custard tarts, that Macau is so famous for, on the walk there.

Then to the Venetian Macau to show Jess the 'casino' life and also the canals and gondolas there. Had a gondola ride and were serenaded by an actual Italian stallion bloke from Florence! Such luck.

Had lunch at our favourite Brazilian restaurant there too and had lots of photo ops throughout the Venetian and the Transformers Exhibition that we happened to stumble upon there.

Then finally, we headed across the road to the City of Dreams for our 5pm matinee of The House of Dancing Water which Jess absolutely loved. She'd never seen a show like that before and was quite mesmerised, as was I, even though I was watching it for the second time.

Lovely day out and couldn't have asked for a better day/companion, really!
