Dancing in the rain

Almost upon a whim, we took our cycles, LSP and I to the Qutb Shahi tombs. The light was pale, and the skies somewhere between grey and blue, were a bit biased towards the former. We travelled a total of 25km to and fro over undulating roads averaging about 30km/per hour, which is rather cool.

This particular child in the photo above was incredibly enthusiastic. She chased the sprinkler as it rotated to water the lawns. Her joy knew no bounds. She did not care if she had company or not. The fountain of water coloured by a winter sunset became her playground, her freedom. The fondest memories of childhood are made of such stuff.

A couple of European nations have banned the 'Burkha' traditional Muslim women wear, since to them it primarily represents repression. But it was great to see them at the tombs today frolicking under fountains, around artificial waterways splashing water upon one another, and joining the children in getting drenched.

I have always wanted to cycle to the tombs. Glad I did it today. There is another reason, I wanted to go. But I shall not discuss that now.

The last 15 shots here are from today.
