Copa Mundial Final
First off - thanks to all who favorited & starred yesterday's entry making it my first ever Spotlight image! It was certainly a thrill to get that notification.
You would think in a fútbol mad country like Mexico, the World Cup final would be everywhere. It certainly was in Zihuatanejo, every bar, restaurant, and store had the games on, no matter who was playing. Not so much here in Pátzcuaro. For yesterday's match, we ended up in the back of a small tienda watching Brazil lose with a half dozen other fans (who were unfortunately routing for the Netherlands) at a few plastic tables, one of the few places in town that had the game on. We were told that Sky controlled that particular game and not many places in town had that particular satellite service.
Today was a different story. A local restaurant that we had been wanting to try had brought in a television especially for the game so we pulled up a table (cloth covered this time) and settled in for the match. When the heavens opened up mid-match we were forced to abandon our open-to-the-sky courtyard table, but the owners had intelligently situated the TV so the flow of the match was not interrupted whatsoever.
