Belly Bhangra

We went to a local free community festival this afternoon. We had intended to go earlier but the rain put us off. At about 3.30 it cleared up so we took a chance. I really wished we had gone earlier because it looked like great entertainment. There were 3 music stages, workshops for belly dancing, bhangra, and salsa, tents where kids could make Chinese dragon puppets, food and beer tents, buskers, jugglers and all sorts of weird and wonderful activities.

Suddenly we heard a great drum beat and a mass drumming group (there must have been 30 middle aged men and women hammering the hell out of all sorts of drums) appeared leading a conga of sorts of the other performers. The rhythm was so strong that everyone had to join in! These Bhangra Boys seemed really happy to be with the Belly Dancers (wonder why?). They blended really well and a lot of their moves were remarkably similar.

In other news, Conventboy2 is off tonight on a lads holiday to Magaluf. A minibus is picking them up from this house at 2AM. They are out at the moment watching the match but shortly 11 excited 18yr olds will be descending on me. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
