A slice of Lesley's life

By Lesley

Half-time hours

Carl has spent the day in a flight simulator with a real pilot, being a pretend pilot, learning to fly a 737 Next Generation*. So naturally he will need to put his new skills to good use.

In the meantime, me and the kids have had a day in the workhouse with homework and housework (only just noticed the interesting closeness of those, semantically at least). There were moments of reading (me), playing in the garden (Anna) and rediscovering a love of Lego whilst watching World Cup highlights (Jackson). And a lovely mooch to the shops for some bits and bobs, a trip to the charity shop and ice-creams. So it wasn't quite all work but I am fairly exhausted and do have that strangely middle-aged feeling of satisfaction at having sorted all the laundry and the kids both having cleared out all their old clothes.

Now back to the football match where I don't mind (care?) who wins which I do find makes it less satisfying to watch. I might read my book instead.

*apparently that bit's important.
