Macro

I’ve had a really good day attending a Going Digital Macro Course in Clumber Park, Nottinghamshire. It was well organised, there was a tutor who knew her stuff, the venue was ideal and it was a friendly group. Added to that we had a gorgeous day.

A few people have asked whether I can pass on tips for the macro. Well, I began at such a low level that almost everything was a revelation to me, but probably wouldn’t be to anyone more skilled than me. For example, I learnt how to use Live View on my camera, which I had never used before. So, especially as it has been a long day and long drive home, I will leave it until tomorrow. I will think about the whole session, look at the notes I have been given and maybe have a bit of a play. Then I will perhaps pass on anything that might be useful to anyone else. However, I would recommend these day courses. They can be a bit variable in quality, but in the end, spending a day on doing something you enjoy, in the company of others and with someone on hand to help out, cannot help but be good.

None of my pictures today were really brilliant, as we were given various tasks, but actually told to experiment. This was the one I liked best, as it was the first time I had used lighting etc. in this sort of studio picture. The group liked this one the best, an outside shot.
