Hog the Humber
A planned trip to Spurn Point was curtailed when the heavens opened and we decided the only option was to stop for breakfast whilst we re-evaluated our plans. As it looked to be clearing we opted for walking across the Humber Bridge.
The Humber Bridge, near Kingston upon Hull, England, is a 2,220-metre (7,280 ft) single-span suspension bridge, which opened to traffic on 24 June 1981. It is the seventh-longest of its type in the world. It spans the Humber (the estuary formed by the rivers Trent and Ouse) between Barton-upon-Humber on the south bank and Hessle on the north bank, connecting the East Riding of Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire
It was a bracing walk and a grey day and just as we had crossed to head back from Barton to Hessle the bridge was full of bikes of all shapes and sizes, hooting and waving crossing the bridge and back for an event called Hog the Humber.
Johnny seems much better this evening and was sound enough to be ridden. It seems that he had just tweaked himself in the field and was just feeling stiff yesterday.
