Castle Gate

We were in Winchcombe Friday night and Saturday morning, Winchcombe is a medieval town , an abbey was founded here in the 8th century Tobacco was grown until the 1600 when it was banned because imported tobacco was favoured. also wool silk and paper were made. Sudely Castle is where Catherine of Parr King Henry VIII widow i is buried . Belas Knapp a multi chambered tomb not far from Wincombe which dates back to 3000bc. Hails Abbey is close by all that remains is the cloister of arches, a lot of artefacts which were found are in a museum nearby.
