James Watt Library
Went through to Greenock today to visit my parents. En route I made my persuaded my husband to stop at the James Watt Library on Union Street. I was interested to find out the library is now full of archives pertaining to the local history of Greenock and surrounding area.
I have very fond memories of this library as a child. The librarian was called Miss McPhail and she introduced me to subversive literature like 'Noddy' and other Enid Blyton unmentionables.
I was sure the library decor was beautiful dark wood and there was a spiral staircase somewhere. I'm sure someone has painted it all white and removed the staircase!
