Purple Thorn

There was a clear sky and a full moon last night so I didn't expect many moths in my light trap. This was the case, but there were at least four new species for the garden (still working through photographs of some of the micro-moths!). I was really pleased with this one - Selenia tetralunaria or Purple Thorn. Most of the books illustrate it from the side, as with all the other Thorns, but I thought it looked really beautiful taken from above while it was being so obliging.
