Gravestones and hollyhocks

Had a gentle get up and a morning pottering around the garden and reading and crocheting under the shade of the large willow tree by the stream.

After lunch we went out to the roman ruins at Fa. It was a boiling hot day and the site was completely open - not a single bit of shade anywhere. We spent some time in the air-conditioned indoor museum first and found out more about the site. The manager and his helper were so keen to help us out and answer any questions. I think we were their only visitors at the time. The site was very interesting - baths, remains of warehouses and shops and a temple.

We headed off to Talmont to round up the afternoon. We'd been there before on our honeymoon many years ago and so it was a nice spot to revisit. Not too busy but a bit of a tourist trap. The streets are lined with hollyhocks and the windows and doors of the houses are mainly painted a lovely blue which seems to set off the hollyhocks well. By the church there was a little graveyard - possibly one of the prettiest I've seen. We rounded off the visit with a bowl of ice cream from a cafe and then headed back home along the coast.
The pool was very welcome for a dip when we got back.
