Wild flowers

Poppy and Corn Marigold. The poppy is now nearly a common sight by the roadside or in the borders of some fields. I have seen whole fields of poppy which are amazing in colour. The Corn Marigold is not so well known in open land. It is thought to have originated from the Mediterranean although it has been in this country since the Iron Age!

The new fence has been situated further from the road and so we have planted the wider outside space with wild flower seeds hoping they will mix with the other wild plants that are slowly spreading into our front paddock which has recently been cut for hay and now has a few cows with their calves grazing the emerging new grass.
