Ramblings from Zambia....

congestion.....

This morning I took the workshop team out to two ECD centres within the city. The first one was being run in a large church so there was plenty of space and lots of materials for the children to play with.

The second one which you see here was in a dark and dismal room - lots of children crammed into a small space with desks and chairs and very few play materials. In fact I think it was set up 'nicer' than usual because they knew we were coming! I wonder at the logic of some parents who sent their kids to places like this and actually pay for the service!! I will provide feedback on our visit to the owner in the hope that things might get better!

In the afternoon I had lots of accounts to do as our private ECD centre will be closing for the year in a couple of weeks and I had to get the budget for the next year ready - not an easy task!!

On another sad note, the man who works in my garden lost his brother a couple of weeks ago, last week he lost his mother and today another brother! I am not surprised he is looking so weary and tired. And my 'Malawian son' also had bad news today as his brother in law who is a young man has passed away. He is on the overnight bus tonight to go to the funeral outside Blantyre tomorrow!

Anyway.....its the weekend and I have a couple of weeks off! I have not made any plans to go anywhere but might manage a day or two away!
