Its not only the Welsh and Scots….

… that have their own language. The Cornish are getting in on the act. Perhaps encouraged by recent EU recognition of minority nationality status more and more examples of bilingual signs are appearing, and not just on street name signs. I spotted this today at the new the new Cornwall services at Victoria on the A30. (BTW I can endorse their freshly made pizzas!). There is a growing movement for Cornwall to be granted devolved powers similar to other minority nations within the UK. I think the language, which effectively died out many years ago has been resurrected as a ploy to further this cause. In light of the upcoming vote on Scottish independence, one effect of a Yes vote may be further pressures fromWales, N.Ireland and now even Cornwall to break or partly break from a London/English -centric state. Further evidence of this was the notable presence of Cornish flags (St.Piran's cross) at the recent televised British stages of the Tour de France.
