My first swimming badge
Following on from yesterday's blip (which was actually 6 months ago due to terrible lack of blipping). We have moved from one childhood sport to another. This is my first ever swimming badge. 5 metres. One width of the pool.
I had swimming lessons from as young as I could remember, both privately and through school. They involved standard swimming, diving for bricks, swimming through submerged hoops, mushroom floats and basic lifesaving skills. The life saving included treading water, towing someone ashore, throwing a rope for someone to catch and removing your pyjama bottoms, tying the ankles, inflating them and using them as a floatation devise. I've never tested the theory but I'm betting it's a LOT harder doing this in tight wet jeans!
Despite being in the advanced swimming class at after school swimming, I was kept in intermediates by the school teacher as she didn't like they way one of my feet kicked during breaststroke!
