Le Tour

After a week of rain, we ventured out to see the Arras to Reims leg of the Tour de France. Parking up on the hard shoulder of a dual carriageway near Vaudessons on the Chemin des Dames, it all took much longer than we thought. At the first sight of the gendarme on motorbikes, it was some two hours before the riders came through. Prior to that 165 promotional vehicles zoomed past. Throwing out key rings, snacks, hats etc it caused a scramble of among the couple of hundred people on this small stretch of the route. Finally the leaders, swiftly followed by the peloton, swept through before we drove back to our gite. We have a bag full of tat, a tour hat and T- shirt and some photos to remember it all.
