The Queens Baton came to Orkney this morning on the Hamnavoe ferry from Scrabster in Caithness.
Rarely can Stromness have seen so many policemen : on foot, on motorcycles, on bicycles and in cars.
How the whole cavalcade with huge recording vans negotiated 'The Street' past the door of our holiday house we didn't wait to fined out because we opted to stand at the harbour to see the Scottish triathlete, Bobbie Oag carry it off the boat to the welcoming ceremony.

Then we were off on our cycle run to Orphir, just managing to get to Orphir Kirk's coffee morning and bag the last 3 cakes before it closed.

A gentle tootle back to Stromness and a photo shoot with Tam MacPhail who owns the very eclectic bookshop in the town and who was the husband of the late well known photographer, Gunnie Moberg whose work is archived in Edinburgh's Summerhall, displayed in the Scottish Parliament and the Portrait Gallery. At the moment there is an exhibition of her work in the Kirkwall library.

I'm sure there is some sort of filing order of books in the shop, but if so, I haven't cracked it.
