Shadow

Shadow is a Reading Dog. He visits pre-schools where he listens to stories and helps youngsters learn to love reading. This photo was taken at our branch library where we have a program called 'Read With a Reading Dog'. Shadow was one of two Reading Dogs at the Library today. I counted no less than twelve little kids waiting with varying degrees of patience for their turn to read to them.

Tara is too young to be a Reading Dog, but I've been investigating the requirements for certification for her to become a Therapy Dog and this might just be 'right up her alley'. I'm a retired Media Specialist and also spent many years as a Reading Teacher. I would be thrilled and very proud if my silly black puppy could someday work alongside Shadow helping children learn to love Reading!
