Looking South

At the end of a long day

Today was full-on. Firstly, meeting up with my mother's executor. Then lunch with the officer who is leaving our corps, then finance with her for the last time and an inventory of the fixtures and fittings in her house. In the old days Salvation Army officers travelled with minimal possessions. Everything was waiting for them in the house (Quarters) they were moving into. Crockery was stamped with 'Property of the General' and every teaspoon had to be accounted for. Stuart46 probably remembers those days. Even in these more enlightened times I still have to check every item belonging to the Quarters, and will check everything again with the incoming officer.

After all that, it took a walk along the beach to calm me down.
