Heath
I've probably mentioned before my belief that this heathland is the most hostile landscape known to man (or at least lowland UK man). That's probably why people have burnt and ploughed it for crops or cleared it to make it into golf courses so that there is now so little of it left.
Nature is definitely declaring Autumn with the purple colours of heather, thistle and foxglove, not to mention the cursed Tibetan Balsam. There seem to be large numbers of hazel nuts in the hedgerow too.
This is a bit of ancient heathland at Little Haldon with some lovely bell heather on show.
