Roman Road Festival
Today was the last day of the festival and to Clare's relief it was a rip roaring success. The packed road was full of a perfect mix of people from the community enjoying themselves. They dressed up in daft outfits for photos, watched great bands or live Wimbledon on a big screen, stuffed their faces with local food and shopped at the little market.
Having said all that the blip photo I've chosen is not of the festivities, (I've put a few on instagram - 123alfee) but of Andreana.
She and a couple of others turned up to help clear things away at the end. They are part of a group called GoodGym who run to and from philanthropic missions. Their aim is to use exercise to benefit others rather than themselves. I was initially intrigued by her tattoos and got chatting. She is an artist and they were all done by herself, if I remember correctly, at a particular time in her life. She said she doesn't really like most of them but thinks rightly that they are a part of her and who she was and so wears them with pride.
And then she was off, running home. It was a really uplifting end to an already uplifting day.
