The Tall Ship at Glasgow Harbour

The Glenlee is a 282 ft (86m) steel-hulled three-masted barque, built in 1896 at Port Glasgow for Glasgow owners at a cost of £24,000. For 23 years it traded as a bulk cargo carrier under the Red Ensign via Cape of Good Hope to Australia, returning via Cape Horn.

From 1922 it was sold to the Spanish Navy as a sail training ship and is now a museum ship at the Glasgow Riverside Museum on Pointhouse Quay.

The Riverside Transport Museum, designed by Zaha Hadid contains over 150 displays and was completed in June 2011. Since then over two million visitors have passed through its doors.

It has become the first Scottish recipient of the prestigious European Museum of the Year Award and is expected to be a major tourist attraction during this month's Commonwealth Games being held in Glasgow for the first time.
