Costume in the making

I had an idea for this top in my head. I had no pattern, no real idea how to make it, and not much fabric to spare if it went wrong. In the end, it worked out not too bad. There's a red sash to be added to it here to cover my stomach.

The dummy it's posed on was a find from my old flat. It was sat next to the wheelie bins as we headed out to the shops. It was still there on our way back so we picked it up, cleaned it up and it has served me ever since. It doesn't really adjust in size but it works for those "how would this go together" moments.
