WATCHERS

After I walked the dogs in the woods this morning, and made and ate breakfast, we went swimming at the city indoor poll just a short walk from here. Then we drove into Newport and did some errands. Then it was off to Ron's Beach for a long walk. It was foggy on the beach and windy, a little chilly. Then drove to Lost Creek Beach, and ate the lunch we had packed. Then to Seal Rocks Beach, and stopped at the coffee place there that makes the best maple bars ever. Made from scratch, foot long, heavy, sweet, moist, with a big hot coffee. Then we took our most comfortable, Tommy Bahama beach chairs, down to the beach. There was a perfect log there for a foot rest. We sat down. This is something we almost never do. As soon as we did the dogs came and curled up between us. We all fell fast asleep. The drumming of the surf, and the calling of all of the shore birds nesting on the high rocks, made for a magical slumber.
