Bandit country

Hundleshope Heights and Waddenshope Burn from the old drove road over Kalzie Hill. I'm trying to imaging herding dozens of cattle over here on their way south. The information board tells me that up 1000 head were driven at a time, each team of drivers looking after about 50 cattle. They covered about 12 miles a day and could go as far as Norfolk, for fattening (the cattle, that is) before final destination Smithfield. I wonder how much weight a beast lost between here and Norfolk.
