Abbey church, Mouzon

One of our last stops in a day of sightseeing in the French Ardennes. After seeing Sedan's medieval history yesterday, we focused on more recent history. We visited Stonne, around which one of the first tank battles of WW2 was fought. In Stonne you can still see one of the French tanks, scary to see the shrapnel and bullet impacts can be clearly seen...
We took a short (6 km) walk in the fields and forrest around Stonne, still littered with battle scars and remembrance plaques.

We had a forgettable lunch in Stenay and made our way back to 'our' chateau via Mouzon, which shows it's rich history in war and trade.
