Big birthday
Nathaniel's second birthday. What a lovely day. He really enjoyed opening his presents (unlike Christmas when he was totally overwhelmed) and then proudly told us "I am 2" . Feels like he's suddenly grown up a bit more!
We tried tenuously to link his day to some of the gifts we chose for him. So drove to the station (ride on car) took a train ride (wooden train set) two stops down to a very dull town, but it was 'all about the journey'. Fed the ducks on the pond and found a nice play park. After some train spotting (Thomas books), and watching diggers (Bob the builder toys) we went back on the train, saw the fire engines (happy land fire station and engines) and went for yummy Italian lunch. Lots of fun with stick on moustaches and a Babyccino "coffee like Daddy" then it was nap time.
In the afternoon we went to the local zoo park to see the animals (play farm) and the monkeys (singing yoga monkey!). Had fun although Nathaniel did get a little spooked at the geese charging to the fence. Think his favourite animals this year were the chickens and baby meerkats "aaahh baby". Can't believe it was a year ago we first went to the same zoo, he's grown so much. Last year he chose a cuddly monkey (bright blue 'soft monkey' ) in the shop...this year it was all about tractors surprise surprise! Again in blue. In honour of my much missed Aunty Mary (who bought me a cuddly monkey every single birthday, Easter and Christmas) we also chose a cuddly marmoset...not sure Nathaniel was as excited about this as Bay was though, he's spent lots of time giggling and chewing it already.
Home for more tractor cake and renditions of Happy Birthday with candles. Must have sung it about 25 times at Nathaniel's request! Lovely end to a wonderful day.
