Joe and Bev

Joe and Bev are our beautiful neighbours from Neerim South. Every time we come back to Victoria we make sure we catch up with them. We went there for lunch and Bev had cooked an amazing roast for us! They are both in their 70's, Joe nearly 80, but they love seeing us. The kids were excited which was lovely!

Bev was talking about wanting to think about going into retirement living and getting a smaller unit with less work than the half an acre they are on now. I think she would rather make the decision now together with Joe rather than have to make it if something happens to one of them or it gets too much. Joe on the other hand doesn't ever want to move. He says that he built this house to retire and die in and that's what he is going to do. He lives getting out on the ride on lawn mower and cutting the grass. He has a lot of health problems, has had lots of 'things' cut off and out of him. But he loves his house and lawn. He said to us one day when we were still living beside them that 'everyday he wakes up and realises he is still alive is a good day'.

It's sad to see people you love getting older. I miss them.
