Blackstone Bay
This is a view from the camp where I stayed for four days:
This weekend our friend Lauren invited us to go with her and a group to spend four days camping out in Blackstone Bay. Situated in the Chugach national forest, this bay is a 45 minute boat ride from a small town called Whittier.
The town of Whittier itself was fascinating. Small enough that the entire town lives in a single apartment structure. Yep, no houses no lawns, everyone is in the same apartment building. Seems like a cool place to live, but the only way to get here is by driving through a railroad tunnel that only has one lane so it alternates every half hour on which direction cars can travel. That and an occasional train coming through make this small town a bit harder to get too. The glacier views are worth it though!
