Pete the Pilot

Today we took Pete, who used to fly a Mosquito during his time in the RAF in the '50's, to Compton Abbas airfield to see what was going on. We were hoping to see the Dragonfly in the back ground flying, but the propeller had been bent and had damaged the engine, so they had grounded her.

Also, it was a lovely sunny day as we drove there, then about 10 minutes after we arrived, the clouds came over and it bagan to rain.

The Tiger Moth that takes paying passengers on 20 minute flights was allowed up after the rain had passed, so we watched that, then decided to go for a drive to see if Lou and James were at the farm. They weren't, but the sun was now shining so we had a nice drive back to Pete's for a cuppa before saying our cheerios.

As we were sitting out in the garden with our teas, Pete remarked how he can't believe that in 4 years time he will be 90 years old. We said neither could we! Luckily he is in good health and can still get about, but he will miss our little visits and occasional days out when we move. I just hope his family throw a 90th Party for him, so's we can come down to celebrate with him!
