Catching the train
Tour de France Grand Depart, just outside the Flame Rouge in York and there's Cav at the back of the Omega Pharma Quickstep sprint train. Just above his right shoulder is the ever present figure of Peter Sagan who would go on to take second place behind Marcel Kittel on the line. Less fortunate was Cavendish, falling at ~200m to go and limping over the line with what looked like a suspect collar bone.
Beautiful day, lots of sun, great crowds and even managed to get a polka dot Carrefour cap from the caravan prior to the peloton showing up.
The day was bookended by some interesting train travel, but all was fine especially on the return leg with some quick thinking and a sneaky manoeuvre to the previous (and quite close by) station down the line meaning we skipped a queue of more than a couple of hours and got to see a bit more of Harrogate. Excellent.
