A rainy day today and where better to spend it than the slate caverns in Blaenau Ffestiniog - just as well because it rains here 360 days a year. We started with the Llechwedd Caverns - a trip into the history of slate mining ..North Wales roofed the world and all that... I'm already planning a trip back to go light painting down the unofficial caverns and adits nearby where I spent whole winters exploring back in the 90's :-)
After visiting this vintage cafe and sweet shop, me and Erin got a train down to another cavern that opened to the public only today - "Bounce Below" - a series of giant .. and I mean giant .. trampolines in a huge cavern linked by ladders, hole schutes and a giant helix. It's truly mental .. psychedelic lighting and crazy shadows add to the experience. Whoever had the imagination to think this up is a little mental, but I owe you a pint .. inspired. Check out my video on you tube.
