A grand day out

What a beautiful day. Blue skies, no wind, no work...what more could I ask for!?

Oh that's right...a cake making PW. He made THE most delicious carrot cake - A first for him but definitely a stayer.

Today three huge cruise liners, carrying a total of approx 7000 people, descended upon Kirkwall. There were coach and minibus tours crawling all over the island. Thankfully we had decided to travel to Birsay in the far NW and probably about as far as you can get from Kirkwall. We did spot 2 coaches from a distance but they didn't secrete people and they were gone before we reached them. PHEW!

Back home PW went for a spin on the bike whilst I went for a swim from the back garden. It was beautifully calm and clear, I spotted a sand eel sqirming and eeling around and two huge crabs dancing together. Aside from that it was just a magical seaweed forest.

Later we had a chilled out beer in the garden with the last of the glorious sunshine, a festered home made curry and a visit from Emmy.
