I have been spoilt for choice for blips this week: London, la ferme française dans le centre-ville, multi-coloured Emley Moor, the wicker men and women of St Peter's gardens and tonights Huddersfield Criterium.

A criterium, is a bike race held on a short course, usually on closed-off city centre streets over either a fixed number of laps or a fixed time.

Despite the initial rain, Huddersfield Town Centre came alive as the cream of UK cycling professionals, amateur riders and young people raced through the streets in the first 'One17 Design Huddersfield Criterium'.

The race is part of a programme of events in Kirklees which culminates as the Tour de France cyclists race through Huddersfield, Holmfirth and out to Holme Moss on Sunday.
