Round and Round

So, as a little treat (tomorrow is my birthday) I thought that it would be a fun idea to run the Tour du lac de Joux. This is a a little race around a lake which is in the Jura mountains, which I have never done before . 24k - slightly longer than a half-marathon and quite a lot of ups and downs. The ups I can sort of cope with. The downs I find very difficult.

The 2nd half was fairly flat but by then I was feeling the lack of distance training over the last few weeks, along with the lack of sleep, stress etc.

But the scenery was beautiful and I did finish. But it took quite a lot out of me. According to Liz. my lips were still blue when I arrived home. Never a good sign.

Here is a view of the lake. Fortunately, we did not have to climb up the mountain in the middle !
