Not just any rose....
Hubby and I are in Bannockburn at my mum's. This rose bush was planted by my grandfather about 1959. It is absolutely stunning this year, covered in huge blooms and the scent is unbelievable. At one point my grandparents lived in the house next door to ours. Grandad was a keen gardener. My father was not, and was delighted to leave planting and looking after the garden to his dad. What is even more amazing is the little attention the plant has had over the years - no spraying, no fertiliser and very little pruning. A lesson for every gardener?
