Venice

After an exhausting 3 days in Rome we have now arrived in Venice.
Rome involved lots of walking. We visited all the main sites including the colosseum, palatine hill, the forum on a walking tour with a guide who knew her stuff.
On our own we visited the pantheon, St. Peter's square, trevi fountain ( no water/ lots of scaffolding), Spanish steps (more scaffolding) , piazza navona (drinks were nine euros but you sat with mist of cooling water squirted every few seconds).
Other memorable words to describe Rome - hot, crowded, many scooters, mad drivers, huge zebra crossings, risking lives to cross the road, tramps, beggars, street sellers of water, hats, etc.
