The Queen's baton

The Queen’s baton passed through Bridge-of-Allan this morning – blink and you missed it.

It was through the town in four minutes.

Unlike the Olympic torch it did not have people whipping up support in advance and so it lacked razz-ma tazz.


But there were plenty of police on duty controlling the traffic, and the route ahead of the runner, with the result that he arrived twenty minutes early and five minutes later the traffic was flowing again.

Tough luck if you arrived hoping to see him at the scheduled time.
