Potentilla and beetle

A busy day at home doing various home chores. Decided to look in garden to see if there were any interesting insects around. I only found this one and a small hovering fly that rapidly disappeared. I'm surprised there are so few about but maybe its because a lot of the flowers are over now. So this is a beetle that quickly moved off the potentilla fruticosa to hide behind it.
