The Scottish Play at Corfe Castle

One of the highlights of the summer for me is to see a performance by Illyria travelling Open -air theatre company who always do a Shakespeare play with a twist. we saw them today at Corfe Castle and we weren't disappointed. The battlements lent themselves to the Scottish play perfectly. The performance began in sunshine so bright everyone was shielding their eyes but by the end bats were flapping across the ruined walls. in the distance we heard the boom of the guns on Lulworth ranges - this added somewhat anachronistically to the mood! Also in typiocal English fashion everyone enjoyed their picnics!
stanley came with us and he is a big fan of Illyria too.Illyria
