The FCC
This is a picture of the external facade of the Foreign Correspondents’ Club, Hong Kong. apparently it is probably the most famous press club in the world.
Formed in China during the turbulent war-torn 1940s by a small group of foreign journalists who wanted a club house to meet, work and play, the FCC moved to Hong Kong from Shanghai in 1949 and has been at its current historic Ice House location since 1982.
Although a club ostensibly for journalists, membership is open to all who can afford it, I am not a member, but fortunately, I know people who are! Tonight, a few of us met up to celebrate the appointment of one of our number to the position of a full Professorship with a bottle of bubbly and fish and chips….
I can't show you pictures as the club has strict rules about the use of mobile phones and cameras, so I will need to leave some of this to your imagination!!
