Mr Rutherford
My favourite day of the week apart from Saturday and Sunday obviously.
First of all I'd like to wish my American friends and subscribers a happy Independence Day, hope y'all having fun and are partying hard.
Not much to report from the other side of the pond if I'm honest, popped into stone for lunch to pick up a few things I needed and spotted a friendly looking senior. I approached him and started talking about my journal to him and asked if he minded having his photograph taken. He replied with a first for me "it makes no difference to me" to which I replied "so it's ok then?", a simple nod from him and I rolled a few off. As I was making the third click of the shutter an old dear came up to me and said "isn't he photogenic" awwww, it was his wife who he'd been waiting for as she popped into a shop. I ask if she wanted a photo to which she replied no thanks carry on with him.
I didn't want to hassle or ask my subject to move into a more aesthetic position for composition purposes as he was advanced in his years and looked quite frail but when his wife turned up he shot out of his seat like a rocket to my surprise.
As we parted I asked if he'd mind me putting his name to his picture, to which he replied, "that would be great, my name is Mr Rutherford dear boy".
I do like old people, they often get bad press for being grumpy but I find them generally a lot more interesting, polite and almost always have better manners than the youth I approach (not every time I might add)
So a nice chance encounter today with a stranger called Mr Rutherford.
I was torn whether to go mono as it looked rather nice but after yesterday's darkness thought better.
P.s. Could this be Mr John from 40 years in the future? Of course after trimming his moustache ;)
Thanks for looking
Mr Bo Hingles
