Meltemi
Today was windy. We had a good dose of the Meltemi, one of the 'named' winds like the Mistral in southern France or the Sirocco in North Africa and the southern Mediterranean. Because of the wind it wasn't safe for the taxi boats to run from Pedi over to our favourite beach, St Nicholas, so we stayed in Pedi for the day. The beach was much busier than normal and after a while the wind became a real nuisance; anything that wasn't tied down blew away and every minute or so you got pebble-dashed with sand or leaves from the Tamarisk trees. We lasted a few hours but in the end we gave up and walked back. I won't say the wind cooled you down, but at least it made the walk back a bit easier as the road climbs around 200 metres up to where we are staying.
The picture is of one of the two taxi boats that we had hoped to take. It may not look very windy, but believe me, it was!
