Whale

We went whale watching at Port Macquarie this morning. The only other time I have ever seen a whale it was a couple of kilometres away. I don't generally have a lot of luck wildlife spotting, but after a slow start we were successful this time. Three of them followed the boat and came up really close. It was pretty exciting. You would think a whale would be the easiest thing to photograph, but they don't surface for long, and only bits at a time, so you have to be quick.

After that Julia surprised me by announcing we were going for a mother/daughter trip to the day spa as a belated birthday present. We had an hour massage, foot scrub and spa bath with champagne, fruit and chocolate. Certainly not something I am accustomed to and it was a lovely treat.
