Mucking about in even bigger boats...
For Poppa's 70th birthday two of the grandsons went sailing out to the deep blue sea east of the New Zealand coastline. One of the 11 year olds caught a tuna and is bringing it back for dinner.
Such incredible luck to top off a perfect experience.
Photo taken with 200 zoom lens from an inflatable alongside as they passed our bay. Image stabilisation supreme as I was out by myself, clutching the steering wheel and holding the camera in the other hand. Was interesting to say the least. Had visions of a short cold swim a couple of times. Amazing what we do in the interests of photography. Was taking photos alongside the rellies wake boarding as well from alongside, but it was harder to control beside a wake than expected and the failure rate was huge, but worth it as there are some absolute classics. Best advice is to not use a male teenage driver though as as he was more interested in jumping wakes himself than providing a safe and stable platform for photos.
