Church of St. John the Baptist, Honiley, Warwickshire

About the Day
Apart from the small matter of an unexpected 25% pay rise, not much. Bright, hot and still for most of the day. During lunch I took myself off to Bishops Tachbrook where I know there to be a small window by William Morris, which as far as I am aware, is the only example of his work in the county. That said, the church door was locked. But as luck would have it, I heard a voice cry 'Excuse Me', and then again. So I stopped a saw a chap approaching wondering if I wanted to get in the church. He thought I was from the architects (something to do with the shirt collar adornment). Inside I pointed to the Morris glass, only to be told I was indicating the wrong window. I ventured to disagree with him and, turned out to his astonishment that for all these years he'd been misleading folk.

The church has memorials to the Savage Landor and Bagot families and outside, deep crevices formed by archers sharpening arrow heads, allegedly prior to the Battle of Edge Hill (so many churches around here claim that accolade.

Trouble was, my little phone was not up to making a good job of the windows. And if the cam could cope with the light range I would still need one of those pole things peeps use when they shoot selfies on top of skyscrapers. The shortcomings were even more noticeable at around 9:30 this evening when the setting sun shone full length down the canal at Lapworth.

About the Blip
So as curator, the only shot I could willingly reveal was one taken late afternoon. Taken at a time when the sun was hidden by a hazy cloud blanket. It is of the Church of St John the Baptist, Honiley. A delicate, small village church, built 1723, and which in large part escaped the clutches of Victorian meddlers.
