Measuring up

N went flying down some outside steps the other day and this made us think about the former dairyman's bungalow and P the mother of our farm worker. She has never complained and the years are going by now so we are going to install a railing before (hopefully) a nasty accident happens. P is now in her late 80's but a real wiry elderly country woman who just gets on with things even at her great age. She loves her garden and the wild birds and has plant pots and flowers and creepers everywhere.

N thinks the new calf is sucking but it is a difficult job since the mother's teat is large and the calf's mouth is small.We are watching carefully during the day to make sure it has enough fluid.

A lovely hot day with friends coming this evening.
