Devil of the Hottest Day

Today started with the promise of even more heat & lots of humidity. So, I quickly fed the birds; then got Gracie Twinkle-toes out of the bird bath where she sat waiting for her visitors to land. Then I discovered this horned devil waiting or perhaps just greeting the morning sun.
Let's see if anyone can identify it?
