My family - the Hempsalls

In my search for family I have met a man who's grandmother was the older sister of my paternal grandfather. I never met him as he died in 1942 - thought not in the war as I thought. We were not allowed to mention him and never met any of his family as for some reason my paternal grandma would not talk about him, though she did have a photo of him on the radiogram. The man I met, Mike, had no idea we lived in York or that I was not aware of the family.

He does know an aunt who is srill alive that may be able to give us some answers.

My grandfsther is stood up, second from the right and I am guessing is about 15, the photo was taken around 1910
