Sun, Sand and Sea and beg your pardon, HEATHER!!
Heather is known to flower in August in Scotland, so this is unusual and also the shade of purple is a lot darker. It was such a lovely day today, that after working in the morning, we decided to start on our travels again. So we went to Findhorn on the Moray Coastal Trail to the east of Inverness by 26 miles. On our walk in which I spotted a Rock Pippet, my first sighting, we came across this beautiful dark purple Heather in among the dunes. It certainly likes growing in sand, so I thought I could use it in a Coastal Scene. The town in the distance across the bay is Burghead. To the right of it are three very high radio masts used to transmit Radio stations all over the Highlands.
